Girls' Locker Rooms No Place for Transgender Boys
A transgender boy assaulted a girl half his size when she confronted him for exposing his genitals and spitting at girls in the girls' locker room at a high school in Riverside, California. It is just one more reason girls should not have to share spaces with transgender individuals, whether in locker rooms or in sports.
The boy is protected by a California law, AB 1266 or the School Success and Opportunity Act, states that "transgender and gender-nonconforming" students shall not be prohibited from using restrooms or locker rooms of their chosen sexual identity. It was passed in 2014.
On April 18, 2023, Reduxx reported a "convicted pedophile" was using the women's locker room in a swimming pool facility in Canada, claiming he had a "human right" to use the locker room because he was transgender. Jeremy Melvin Carlson who goes by Riley Otter "was sentenced to 14 months in jail and 24 months probation for sexual interference against" an eight-year-old girl on "nine separate occasions while in a position of trust."
The mother's impact statement, which earned national attention, detailed her daughter's severe trauma from the pattern of behavior:

There was a another "alarming" incident at Sun Prairie East High School (EHS) in Wisconsin according to a letter written to the Sun Prairie Area School District Board of Education by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL). A boy allegedly exposed his "full genitalia" to a group of four girls in the shower area of the girls' high school locker room. The girls involved were reticent to report the incident. It was only after they told a friend who was not involved that the school was made aware, three days after the incident.

According to the letter, it took over a month for the school to address the situation properly in spite of the fact that a "student who was not involved in the incident informed student services" and the Assistant Principal. Federal law requires such incidents to be reported immediately to the Title lX coordinator. Despite repeated requests, an in-person meeting did not occur until "over a month after the incident."
Progress Being Made
The House recently passed a bill barring transgender athletes from participating in girls' and women's sports. The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, H.R. 734, introduced by Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.), would amend Title IX to recognize sex as “based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth, according to the Epoch Times. The vote was along party lines, 219-203.
“Congress in 1972 created Title IX to protect women’s sports, to enable women to have an equal playing field in athletics, and in worship to their trans idols, the [Biden] administration wants to flip that on its head. It’s insane,” Steube said.
North Dakota also signed legislation at the end of April prohibiting transgender minors and adults from entering locker rooms and showers in schools, colleges and jails.
The World Athletics Council has also tightened its rules for "athletes who are transgender or who have Differences of Sexual Development (DSD)." For DSD athletes, the "new regulations will require any relevant athletes to reduce their testosterone levels below a limit of 2.5 nmol/L for a minimum of 24 months to compete internationally in the female category in any event, not just the events that were restricted (400m to one mile) under the previous regulations." With regard to transgender athletes, "the Council has agreed to exclude male-to-female transgender athletes who have been through male puberty from female World Rankings competition from 31 March 2023."
While not all transgender individuals are predatory, citizen support of common sense laws and policies that protect women and girls in unisex spaces will help prevent such incidents.

The guide suggests parents "avoid putting children into situations that may jeopardize their safety" by identifying situations where the child might be isolated and away from the protection of caring adults.
